Electrical Contractors Commercial & Domestic
Touch screen lighting installation to control and dim luminaires throughout the Grand Pier
Barrie Beard Ltd secured this contract in October 2009. The project involved the complete design and installation of all elements which are detailed below.

The lighting installation consisted of a touch-screen computer which controlled and dimmed the luminaires throughout the pier, either individually or in groups.

The pavilion itself was not physically/mechanically attached to the pavilion deck, which entailed a 50mm deflection between the two structures. This created design issues regarding containments and cabling.

Small power consisted of supplies to each games machine, rides/attractions, kitchen facilities and general socket outlets.

Barrie Beard Ltd’s scope of work included

General lighting
Specialist lighting
Small power
Supplies to all attractions
Fire alarm/voice activation
Public address

Intruder alarm
Disabled refuge and alarms

"We found Barrie Beard Ltd to be accommodating, professional and very thorough in their approach to their work and they were easily the best performing sub-contractor on site throughout the re-building process. We would have no hesitation in recommending them and we look forward to working with them again on our own future projects."

"This project is extremely challenging, the works are located at the end of a 250m long jetty and the pavilion building is suspended over the tidal section of the Bristol Channel....an unusual logistic and safety situation that requires specific careful and disciplined management. Barrie Beard have been, without doubt, the most proactive and cooperative contractor engaged on this project."
