Russell Beard Managing Director Contracts & Design Manager 

Russell joined the company directly from school in 1986 and initially trained as an Electrician before advancing to become a Technician. Following his qualifications, he spent three years on-site as a Project Manager, successfully coordinating a range of projects. 
 
He subsequently transitioned to our headquarters, where he has applied his expertise to estimating, design, and contract management. Russell’s current managerial responsibilities include Contract Management, Contract Design, and Contract Quotations, and he is also a NICEIC Qualified Manager. His extensive experience, technical knowledge, and leadership make him a highly valued member of the team. 

Warren Beard Chairman 

Warren has been working for the company since leaving school. Warren initially qualified as an electrician then technician gaining valuable experience before moving into office management in 1990. 
 
Warren, although now retired from the company, still has a dedicated involvement with corporate evaluations and attends regular monthly management meeting. 

Wayne Bedford Non - Executive Director 

Wayne joined the company in 1980 becoming one of only three employees at that time. Wayne graduated through the company to become a Director and has been a huge influence in the company’s success. 
 
Although now semi retired, Wayne still has a dedicated involvement in specific contracts. 
 
Wayne is an NICEIC Qualifying Supervisor. 

Lyndon Beard Director Contracts & Design Manager 

Lyndon has been with the company since leaving school, joining in 1987. He initially trained as an Electrician before advancing to become a Technician, gaining extensive on-site experience. He later transitioned to our headquarters to focus on contract management, steadily progressing through the company to his current role as Director. 
 
Throughout his career, Lyndon has overseen a wide range of high-profile contracts, including Perdiswell Leisure Centre, Andover Leisure Centre, and he is currently managing works at Sandwell Aquatics Centre. His leadership, technical expertise, and extensive project experience make him a key asset to the business. 
 
 
 
 
 

John Barnes Director Contracts & Design Manager 

A committed and experienced individual; after leaving school in 1978 John was the first to join Barrie as an apprentice and has graduated through the company to become a Director. 
 
John initially qualified as an electrician then technician gaining valuable experience before basing himself at HQ to concentrate on contract management. Most recently John has designed and managed 2 new high rise builds for Wates construction, 21 floor and 32 floors Broad St Birmingham, and is currently working with Wates living Space on numerous Birmingham City Council Projects including, Sprinkler systems to high rise, emergency lighting upgrades and a homeless project refurbishment at Oscott Gardens Perry Barr. 

Lee Ball Director Contracts & Design Manager 

Lee started his career as an apprentice straight from school. He has gradually progressed through the company, gaining qualifications firstly as an Electrician and then as an Approved Electrician, Site Foreman, and became Contracts Manager in July 2009 and senior Contracts Manager in April 2017 
 
In April 2018 he was recognised again as Associate Director and in July 2022 Lee was promoted to the position of Director. 
 
Over the years Lee has overseen and contract managed many projects including: 103 Colmore Row, Thames Valley Business Park, IM Properties, The Liver building and Waltham 
 

Jacqui Emery Director Quality & HSQE 

Jacqui joined the company in 2006 and, after six years as Office Secretary and Purchase Ledger Clerk, was promoted to Personal Assistant to all Directors, reflecting her professionalism and dedication. In January 2020, she advanced to the role of Associate Director, and in 2022, following 16 years of loyal service and outstanding contribution, she was promoted to Director of Barrie Beard Ltd. 
 
Jacqui also holds a NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety, bringing valuable expertise in health and safety alongside her extensive experience in leadership and administration. 

Darren Stokes Director Contracts & Design Manager 

Darren joined Barrie Beard Ltd in 1993 as an apprentice straight from school and has steadily progressed through the company over the years. He initially qualified as an Electrician, subsequently becoming an Approved Electrician and Site Foreman, gaining extensive on-site experience and technical expertise. 
 
Darren advanced to the role of Contracts Manager, and in April 2017, he was promoted to Senior Contracts Manager. His continued dedication and leadership were recognised in April 2018 with promotion to Associate Director. In 2022, Darren achieved the position of Director, reflecting his significant contribution to the business. 
 
He is also a NICEIC Qualifying Supervisor, bringing both technical authority and strong leadership to his role. 

Daniel Ingram Director 

Dan joined the company in 2007 as an apprentice and soon became an Approved Electrician. He excelled in his Site Manager role and competently gained experience on many contracts including; LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art), Gatwick Train Station, Lewisham Leisure Centre and the London West Over-line Train Station upgrade programme. 
 
As a Contracts manager Dan has tendered, designed and project managed numerous large projects for the business. These have included multiple data centres in South Wales. Office fit outs for high end users such as Gymshark, ADIDAS HQ showroom and Irwin Mitchell. Along with these works he has secured and designed various energy saving projects including LED building enhancements, PV installations and specialised LED grow light installations for NAFIC. He also currently specialises in mains upgrades to multi tenanted buildings when the switchgear has reached the end of its shelf life. 
 
In acknowledgement of his successes, in 2022, he was promoted from Contracts Manager to Associate Director where he continues working in his pre contracts estimating, design and project managing role.  
 
By early January 2025, he confidently advanced to the position of Director. 

Karl Best Associate Director 

Karl joined the company in July 2002 as an Apprentice and successfully progressed to become a fully qualified Electrician. He gained extensive hands-on experience and leadership skills in his role as Site Supervisor, coordinating high-profile contracts including The Liver Building in Liverpool and the London Coliseum. 
 
In recognition of his expertise and dedication, Karl was promoted to Contracts Manager in June 2017, where he oversaw project delivery and team management. In 2023, he advanced to the role of Associate Director, contributing strategically to the company’s growth, operational excellence, and continued delivery of high-quality projects. 

Matt Chance Associate Director 

Matt joined the company in 2005 as an apprentice, progressing to a qualified Electrician and gaining extensive experience as a Site Foreman. His practical expertise and understanding of on-site operations laid a strong foundation for his transition into project estimation. 
 
In June 2017, Matt was appointed as a Trainee Estimator and, through dedication and demonstrated skill, advanced to the role of Senior Estimator. Recognising his leadership, commercial acumen, and significant contribution to the business, Matt was promoted in 2023 to Associate Director. In this senior role, he continues to drive strategic growth, oversee complex projects, and ensure the delivery of high-quality solutions for clients. 

Jordan Beard Associate Director 

Jordan joined as an apprentice in September 2015 and gained valuable in-house training on AutoCAD. Jordan has certifications in BIM (Building Information Model) for Revit Essentials and Revit Content Creation. To complement his understanding of the industry, in September 2016 he enrolled in a level 3 Electrical Installation Day release course at Worcester College. 
 
He also completed training in aspects of accountancy and attended one day per week at Bourneville college. Jordan is currently responsible for managing the drawing department as well as creating the 2D drawings and 3D models, working closely with Contracts Managers during the design process. He also works alongside our Accountant Helen to assist with daily tasks when required. 
 
In 2023, Jordan was promoted to the position of Associate Director. 

Helen Faulkner Accountant 

Helen plays a vital role in maintaining the financial integrity of the business since October 2021. Her meticulous attention to detail and strong analytical skills ensure accuracy across all financial processes. Through her diligence and professionalism, they provide valuable insight that supports informed decision-making and long-term stability. 

Chris Wedgbrow Purchasing Manager 

Chris is a dedicated and highly skilled professional who has progressed through the company since leaving school. He began his career as an Electrical Apprentice, and after qualifying as an Electrician, he developed a keen interest in electrical design. To further this expertise, Chris completed a City & Guilds course in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and successfully achieved the Revit Essentials certification for Autodesk Revit MEP (BIM). 
 
Building on his technical knowledge and understanding of the business, Chris has now taken on the role of Purchasing Manager. In this position, he plays a key role in sourcing materials, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of procurement processes, making him a valuable asset to the company. 

James O'Brien Senior Domestic Contracts Manager 

James joined Barrie Beard Ltd in February 2007 as an Electrician and has steadily progressed through the company, advancing to the role of Site Foreman. In June 2019, he was promoted to Contracts Manager, where he now plays a key role in overseeing and managing our domestic contracts, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and to the highest standards. 
 
In addition to his managerial responsibilities, James actively mentors apprentices and supports the development of newly qualified electricians, contributing directly to the growth and expertise of the company’s skilled workforce. As a NICEIC Qualified Supervisor, his technical knowledge, leadership, and commitment to excellence make him a highly valued asset to the business. 

Chris Smith Domestic Contracts Manager 

Chris joined Barrie Beard Ltd in July 2000 as an Apprentice and has since built a highly respected career within the company. In December 2022, he was promoted to Contracts Manager, taking on responsibility for overseeing small works contracts and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards. 
 
A NICEIC Qualified Manager, Chris plays a key role in mentoring apprentices and supporting new electricians, sharing his extensive knowledge and experience to strengthen the company’s skill base and maintain excellence across all projects. His expertise, leadership, and commitment make him a valuable asset to both the team and the business. 

Ant Bold Contracts Manager 

Ant joined Barrie Beard Ltd in February 2010 and has demonstrated consistent dedication and professional growth throughout his career with the company. Beginning in an operational role, he steadily progressed through the ranks, earning promotion to Site Foreman through his leadership, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering high standards on every project. 
 
Now serving as Contracts Manager, Ant plays a pivotal role in overseeing projects from inception to completion. His strong organisational skills, commercial awareness, and ability to lead teams effectively ensure that works are delivered safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards. Ant’s experience, reliability, and in-depth knowledge of the business make him a significant asset to the company and a trusted leader within the team. 

Zach Beesley Contracts Manager 

Zach joined Barrie Beard Ltd in July 2017 as an Electrician and has consistently demonstrated strong technical ability, leadership, and commitment to excellence. Through his dedication and performance, he progressed within the company, gaining valuable experience as a Site Foreman where he successfully led teams and delivered projects to a high standard. 
 
In August 2021, Zach was promoted to Contracts Manager in recognition of his expertise and leadership capabilities. In this role, he oversees projects from planning through to completion, ensuring quality, efficiency, and client satisfaction at every stage. His practical experience, commercial awareness, and proactive approach make him a key asset to the business and a respected member of the management team. 

Marc Smith Contracts Manager 

Marc joined the company in August 2018 as an adult trainee, bringing with him nine years of management experience from David Lloyd Health and Fitness Clubs. His previous leadership background provided a strong foundation in organisation, team coordination, and client service, which he successfully transferred into his new career within the electrical industry. 
 
Marc qualified as an Electrician in June 2022 and has since further enhanced his technical expertise by achieving his 2391 Inspection and Testing certification. In November 2023, he transitioned into the office team and was promoted to Contracts Manager. In this role, Marc combines his practical site experience with strong managerial skills to oversee projects effectively, ensuring high standards of quality, compliance, and client satisfaction. His progression reflects his commitment, capability, and significant value to the business. 
 

Ethan Jackson CAD / BIM Technician 

Ethan Joined Barrie Beard Ltd in October 2016 with experience in 3D modelling, along with certification in AutoCAD Essentials, AutoCAD Intermediate, AutoCAD 3D, and passed a Certified User Exam. 
 
In 2017 Ethan completed further college courses in Revit, earning additional certification in Revit MEP Essentials, Revit MEP Advanced, and Revit Content Creation. Ethan works closely with contract managers throughout the design process to create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models. During his time here, Ethan has created 100’s of bespoke 2D AutoCAD “blocks” and 100’s of 3D Revit “families” all tailored to Barrie Beard’s needs, making Ethan a valuable member of the Barrie Beard team. 

Alistair Hickman Estimator 

Alistair has been a valued member of the company for the past eight years, initially joining as a fully qualified Electrician. Over that time, he has continually refined and strengthened his technical expertise, demonstrating a strong commitment to quality workmanship and professional development. His hands-on experience in the field has provided him with an in-depth understanding of industry standards, practical challenges, and effective solutions. 
 
Now serving as an Estimator, Alistair brings a well-rounded and practical perspective to the role. Drawing on his extensive site experience, he produces accurate, considered, and competitive estimates that reflect both technical insight and commercial awareness. His fresh approach, attention to detail, and ability to identify innovative solutions make him an invaluable asset to the team as we continue to deliver high-quality and forward-thinking results for our clients. 
 

Lauren Beard Senior Office Administrator 

Lauren joined the company in February 2017 as an Office Administrator and has since developed a comprehensive understanding of the business and its operations. Through her dedication and continuous development, she has become an integral part of the administrative and financial functions of the organisation. 
 
In her current role, Lauren is responsible for wage preparation, invoicing, and the administration of CIS/NIC certification, alongside overseeing a wide range of general administrative duties. Her accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail ensure that key financial and compliance processes are managed efficiently and reliably. Lauren’s proactive approach and commitment to supporting both colleagues and clients make her a highly valued member of the team. 

Charlotte Bedford Office Administrator 

Charlotte joined the company in October 2015 as an Office Administrator and has since become a highly valued member of the team. Having grown up around the business, she developed an early understanding of the company’s values, standards, and commitment to quality, which is reflected in her professional approach and strong work ethic. 
 
In her current role, Charlotte is responsible for NIC certification, invoicing, and a broad range of administrative functions. She plays a key part in ensuring compliance requirements are met and that financial and operational processes run efficiently. Her attention to detail, organisational skills, and dedication to supporting both colleagues and clients make her an important asset to the business. 

Ryan Wilkes Marketing & Fleet Maintenance 

Ryan joined the company in March 2024 as a Stores Operative, where he quickly became a key contributor to the smooth running of the stores, vehicle maintenance coordination, and LOLER inspections. His proactive approach ensured that lifting equipment remained fully compliant and safe for use, supporting our on-site teams in maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency. 
 
Building on this strong operational foundation, Ryan has since transitioned into leading our Marketing and Web Design functions. In this role, he drives the company’s digital presence and brand development with creativity and innovation, while continuing to oversee the management and upkeep of our vehicle fleet to ensure it remains fully operational. His versatility, initiative, and forward-thinking mindset make him an invaluable asset to the business. 

Gavin Warman Stores Manager 

Gavin joined the company in April 2014 as a Stores Operative and has since progressed to the role of Stores Manager, having previously served as Stores Supervisor. 
 
He oversees the logistics and daily operations of our 4,500 sq. ft. warehouse, which includes both delivery and dispatch functions. Through his structured and systematic approach to stores management, Gavin ensures efficient stock control and seamless coordination, enabling our on-site teams to consistently access the necessary equipment, tools, and materials to carry out their work effectively. 

Stuart Pearman Sales Counter & Warehouse Administrator 

Stuart is one of our longest-serving team members, having joined Barrie Beard Ltd in 1996. He is a highly versatile professional, known for his meticulous approach to a wide range of responsibilities, including the preparation and design of Operating and Maintenance (O&M) manuals for major contracts as part of Health and Safety documentation requirements. 
 
Stuart also demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills, maintaining a professional and approachable rapport with the public while handling counter enquiries efficiently and courteously. His attention to detail, reliability, and commitment make him a valued member of the team.

Coco, gives a warm welcome in the morning, helps workers to stay healthy and to practice good habits, such as taking breaks.
