Barrie Beard Ltd has been a trusted name in both commercial and domestic electrical contracting for more than 40 years. Established in 1978 in Bromsgrove by the late Barrie Beard and his wife, Jackie, the company began as a small local business with a big ambition: to provide reliable, high-quality electrical services built on strong workmanship, integrity, and long-term customer relationships.
Over the decades, that ambition has grown into a nationwide reputation, with the company now recognised for delivering exceptional design-to-installation services across a wide range of sectors.
From its early days working on local domestic properties, Barrie Beard Ltd steadily expanded its capabilities and operational reach. The business incorporated as a private company in 1983, marking a key milestone in its growth. This was followed by significant moves to larger premises in 1984 and again in 2011, each relocation reflecting the company’s increasing workforce, expanding in-house design capabilities, and growing commercial portfolio.
Today, the firm proudly operates across the UK, providing electrical services for major commercial projects as well as specialist installations within healthcare, education, sports and leisure, and large-scale office environments.
Commercial
Barrie Beard Ltd primarily operates within the commercial sector, delivering tailored, bespoke projects to meet the specific requirements of each client. We take full responsibility for the complete electrical design and documentation process, including detailed calculations, technical drawings, ‘as-installed’ drawings, and comprehensive Operation & Maintenance (O&M) manuals — all produced by our experienced in-house team.
Our services include LED energy-saving solutions and lighting design calculations, construction drawings using BIM and AutoCAD, and full electrical calculations incorporated within our Electrical O&M documentation. This integrated approach ensures accuracy, efficiency, and seamless project delivery from design through to completion.

Apprenticeships
One of the defining features of Barrie Beard Ltd is its dedication to nurturing the next generation of electricians. Founder Barrie Beard was a strong advocate for apprenticeships and believed deeply in providing training, mentorship, and opportunities for young people. His commitment laid the foundation for what has become a core part of the company’s identity.
Each year, Barrie Beard Ltd takes on new apprentices from the local area, offering hands-on experience supported by structured learning.
