The Discovery Academy, Stoke-on-Trent
First class learning environment and latest technologies for new Discovery Academy
Barrie Beard Ltd designed and installed the electrical installation at the new Discovery Academy School in Stoke-on-Trent.
The high school Academy provides a first-class learning environment for local students, bringing together teaching staff of the highest quality, together with state-of-the-art building design and the very latest in new technologies.
The new build Academy provides space for up to 1200 pupils aged 11-16. It offers a broad-based curriculum centred around its specialist fields in business, enterprise, innovation and technologies. The new building provides teaching and learning environments that are aligned with workplace scenarios and experiences, equipping students with real-world skills and expectations.
The Academy has incorporated flexible working areas with new technologies throughout to create open-plan and active zones as well as small quiet places to work alone or in a small group. This enables multi-media dimensions to all learning and provides spaces for student-centred learning.
With its fast internet connections this enables national and international communications via video and web conferencing. The Academy also boasts first class sporting facilities and has a purpose-built sports hall, an all-weather floodlit pitch, a dance studio, gymnasium and health suite.
