Helping the homeless in the Birmingham community
We delivered a range of electrical and mechanical building services as part of the conversion of Oscott Gardens in Birmingham. The former student accommodation complex was converted into temporary hostel accommodation for homeless families, providing self-contained accommodation and an onsite support centre.
Our scope of work covered electrical installation, lighting, power and distribution, alongside fire and security systems, ventilation, water services, drainage, gas and other mechanical building services.
Oscott Gardens, a former student accommodation complex of 62 flats, and 424 en-suite bedrooms, has been turned into hostel accommodation for homeless families for a temporary period of six years.
Oscott Gardens house up to 62 families, who have been each given their own self-contained flats with en-suite bedrooms, and a support centre onsite, so families can easily access council services.
Our Electrical Services
We delivered a comprehensive range of electrical services as part of the Oscott Gardens project, covering lighting, power, distribution and specialist electrical systems.
Our electrical scope included:
Lighting and emergency lighting design and installation
Small power installation
Distribution, including new distribution and testing of existing systems
External lighting
Car park lighting
Fire alarm system
CCTV system
Door access system
Door monitoring system
Security alarm
These works formed part of the wider electrical installation for the converted accommodation, providing the electrical infrastructure and systems required across the development.
