Midland Centre for Cyber Security, Hereford
State-of-the-art Cyber Quarter for Midlands Centre
Barrie Beard Ltd completed of the state-of-the-art Cyber Quarter: Midlands Centre for Cyber Security in Hereford, a flagship scheme for the University of Wolverhampton in 2020.
The centre provides a three-storey research space and teaching building for the University of Wolverhampton’s Cyber Security Research Institute and includes tenanted office space for up to 20 local cyber security businesses.
A full height glass atrium provides a dual break-out space and function hall, alongside the main three storey building that houses business suites, innovation rooms, IT workshops and a ‘Cyber Range’ – a cutting edge facility that will defend against the global rise of hacking.

"I can tell you today that the Client representatives have very sincerely expressed their thanks to the team for delivering such an outstanding project. Jason went to lengths to express that the approach of the whole Speller Metcalfe Team and Barrie Beard Ltd / DIS was absolutely fantastic, with a positivity to solving the inevitable problems that come up on a major project collaboratively and without a blame culture. He particularly commented that there wasn’t one weak link or ‘square wheel’ in the whole team and that everybody pulled together with the same positivity and purpose to deliver an excellent end result, which he thought was very rare. The University clearly think very highly of Speller Metcalfe and our supply chain, and I have been assured that we will be at the front of their thoughts for the project pipeline, of which they have assured me there will be many next years. Many thanks to all of you who have worked tirelessly on this project overcoming some major hurdles along the way and shown a huge sense of pride and ownership in what we have delivered. A great team effort to be very proud of."
