Residential tower block located above Newtown Shopping Centre
Inkerman is a 12-storey, residential tower block located above Newtown Shopping Centre, in Birmingham.
The refurbishment of the block forms part of the regeneration programme by Birmingham City Council, to upgrade the facades, fire safety strategies, and thermal performance of existing towers in the city. The complete main service upgrades to 144 properties, sub mains from the Basement, feeding 4 new 400 TPN busbars, with distribution boards in each floor service riser. The containment infrastructure for WPD is in the Basement.

Essential and non-essential power to AOV smoke extract panel in roof tank room
Distribution to serve all tenants properties 144 No
Design of project
Designed the MSUs (Main Service Upgrades) using the existing containments in the floors, to get from the riser DB to the properties, this meant no additional unsightly containment was required in the tenants corridors.
Engaged with WPD and carried out the basement switch room design.
Organised the design of the AOV life safety power to include 2 new essential and non-essential panel boards, to feed the roof power to the AOVs.
