Horley Leisure Centre
A Contemporary Family Leisure Centre
The facility includes a 25 metre pool together with a learner pool, a four court multi-use sports hall, a 60 station fitness suite, studio and related changing and reception facilities.
The low carbon energy philosophy influenced design and engineering decisions. A biomass boiler with a burner suitable for woodchips and wood pellets was installed, also a heat exchange system, solar (photovoltaic) panels, a lighting scheme based on daylight saving and PIR sensors. The entire building has been constructed using the latest technology using concrete with laminated timber beams, columns, roof and wall panels known as Glulam.
