Electrical installation to 23 units
Barrie Beard Ltd were responsible for the complete design and installations to 23 units. The main part of the project consisted of two-storey office accommodation for Airwave, which incorporated 2 large computer rooms which were responsible for the logging and distribution of the emergency service telephone calls. The communication rooms were backed up so as to afford the building N+1 capability.
The lighting throughout the building consisted of daylight linking dimming to the outer rows adjacent to the external windows. The un interruption to the supplies to the computer rooms was critical due to the nature of the business, hence installing all the secondary back-up and monitoring.
Barrie Beard Ltd’s scope of work included
Daylight linking lighting controls
Installation of two 1,000kVA back-up generators
Two 800kVA uninterruptible power supply units
Two 1,000kVA HV/LV transformers including LV meter tails
All low voltage switchgear including automatic changeover panels
Power distribution units to computer rooms, including surge protection
Specialised supplies to all Motorola equipment
Anti-static earth nests to computer rooms
Emergency lighting system
Fire alarm system
Close circuit television equipment / installation
Security installations including intruder and door access controls
All small power including under-floor busbar systems
External lighting including street lighting
