The scope of work carried out by Barrie Beard Ltd
Barrie Beard Ltd are SESs’ main electrical sub-contractor, and a small part of our order was to undertake the installation of the SWA cables throughout the project. This was a challenge which involved:
The majority of SWA cables were in excess of 100mts, all of which at this distance were complex due to change in levels and direction.
The most difficult part of the install was the sports hall where we were faced with installing large cables at heights of 15mts running approximately 130mts and changing direction several times.
Having not faced an install as risky and complex as this we surveyed the route numerous times and set up heavy duty cable rollers of which were suspended from the beams at strategic locations to enable the cables to be pulled in by an electric winch. It took 3 weeks to safely install and tie in 6no SWA cables.
