Project Overview
Barrie Beard has been appointed to manage the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) package for the refurbishment of Westwood Ward at Caludon Hospital in Coventry.
The project involves the refurbishment and upgrade of the existing ward, with the works requiring careful coordination within a live healthcare environment to ensure services are installed safely and efficiently while minimising disruption to the hospital.
Scope of Works
The electrical works include:
New fire alarm system
Pinpoint nurse call system
Door access control system
Structured data system
LV distribution and power
Internal lighting installation
The mechanical package, delivered by L Darbys & Son, includes:
Water services
Ventilation systems
Misting system
Project Delivery
Barrie Beard is responsible for coordinating the M&E works and specialist subcontractors throughout the refurbishment. Particular attention is being given to the coordination of services within the existing building and the requirements of a live healthcare environment.
The project is scheduled for completion in September 2026, with the team working closely with the wider project team to maintain programme, quality and safety standards.
