From Power Station to Place of Education: John Taylor School, Rugeley
Barrie Beard Electrical Contractors Ltd. is proud to have been involved in the transformation of the former Rugeley Power Station site, which has been redeveloped to provide a new home for John Taylor School.
We recently had the opportunity to visit the completed project and see first-hand how the site has been transformed into a modern educational facility serving students from Reception through to Sixth Form.
The new school provides a range of purpose-built learning environments across two- and three-storey buildings, including science laboratories, technology areas, classrooms, a main hall, library and dining facilities.
The development also includes a dedicated sports hall, connected to the main school by an external walkway, alongside extensive outdoor facilities. These include two all-weather pitches and three athletic areas, providing students with a wide range of opportunities for sport and physical activity.
Projects of this scale require close collaboration, careful planning and a strong team effort from everyone involved. We would like to thank all those who worked tirelessly throughout the project to help deliver this fantastic facility on time and to specification.
It is fantastic to see the former power station site given a new purpose and become a place where the next generation can learn, grow and thrive.
