Barrie Beard Ltd were responsible for the complete design and installations to 23 units. The main part of the project consisted of two-storey office accommodation for Airwave, which incorporated 2 large computer rooms which were responsible for the logging and distribution of the emergency service telephone calls. The communication rooms were backed up so as to afford the building N+1 capability.

 

Barrie Beard Ltd’s scope of work included:

  • Daylight linking lighting controls
  • Installation of two 1,000kVA back-up generators
  • Two 800kVA uninterruptible power supply units
  • Two 1,000kVA HV/LV transformers including LV meter tails
  • All low voltage switchgear including automatic changeover panels
  • Power distribution units to computer rooms, including surge protection
  • Specialised supplies to all Motorola equipment
  • Anti-static earth nests to computer rooms
  • Emergency lighting system
  • Fire alarm system
  • Close circuit television equipment / installation
  • Security installations including intruder and door access controls
  • All small power including under-floor busbar systems
  • External lighting including street lighting
